RillaBox vs Cases.gg for USA Players

US players have more rules to think about than anyone else on mystery box sites. Each state treats sweepstakes and prize games differently, so a site that's fine in Texas may be off-limits in Michigan. This comparison puts RillaBox and Cases.gg side by side for one audience only: adults in the United States. It covers which states each site accepts, how identity checks work, how you get value out, what shipping costs and how long it takes, and what the odds look like.

We've used the operators' published terms where we could and labelled third-party claims as such. Terms change, so check the dates on each site's own pages before you sign up.

State eligibility: the deciding factor

For most US readers, the state you live in settles this comparison before anything else does.

Cases.gg lists five excluded states in its terms: Idaho, Montana, Michigan, Nevada and Washington. Nevada and Washington are blocked completely. The other three can't take part in the sweepstakes. Everyone else needs to be at least 18, or the age of majority in their state if that's higher. The terms also cap a single prize at $5,000 in New York and Florida.

RillaBox is reported by several review sites to exclude Washington and to require enhanced identity checks for players in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. We couldn't find a single official list as clear as the Cases.gg one, so read RillaBox's terms yourself and look for the eligibility section.

What this means in practice:

  • If you live in Idaho, Montana or Michigan, Cases.gg isn't an option for you. RillaBox may be, subject to its own terms.
  • If you live in Washington, neither site is a good idea.
  • If you live in New York, New Jersey or Connecticut, expect more paperwork on RillaBox, and note the $5,000 per-prize cap on Cases.gg in New York.
  • Everywhere else, both sites are generally open to adults, so the decision comes down to the factors below.

Don't try to get around state rules with a VPN. Both sites check identity before paying out, and an ID showing an excluded state ends the account and usually the balance with it.

How each site is structured for US players

The two sites are built differently, and that changes what you're actually buying.

Cases.gg uses a sweepstakes model. You buy Gold Coins, which are only for play and can never be redeemed. Cases Cash is the redeemable currency. You can't buy it directly. It comes as a bonus with Gold Coin purchases, from missions and the daily bonus, or free through the mail-in method of entry. Prizes won with Cases Cash can be shipped or redeemed. This structure is what lets the site operate across most of the US: there's always a no-purchase route to a prize.

RillaBox works more like a classic mystery box store. You top up a balance, open boxes, and either ship the item or sell it back for site balance. Withdrawals are reported to be crypto only. There's no advertised free entry route, so every box you open with real value comes from money you've put in.

Neither model changes the maths of a mystery box. On average you get back less than you spend. The structure matters for eligibility and for how you get value out, not for whether you'll come out ahead.

Identity checks (KYC)

Both sites will ask for ID at some point. The difference is when.

On Cases.gg, KYC unlocks things rather than just blocking them. Verified players get the free daily KYC case, qualify for the Free Play pool in chat, and can use the mail-in entry. KYC is also needed before redemptions. You'll typically upload a government ID and a selfie, and the name and address must match your account.

On RillaBox, review sites report KYC kicking in around a cumulative threshold of about $2,000, with enhanced checks in a few states. Below that, you may be able to play and withdraw small amounts without uploading documents. That's convenient, but it also means a surprise document request can land just as you try to withdraw a larger sum.

Our advice for both: verify early. If your ID and address are going to cause a problem, it's far better to find out before you have a balance to lose.

Getting value out: shipping vs crypto

This is where the two sites differ most for US players.

Cases.gg

You can ship a physical prize to your address or redeem the value. The terms require you to play through your deposits, prize values and balance before redeeming, and redemptions are rate-limited. We cover the timing in our guide to the five-day redemption window. Crypto redemption is available to eligible players. Deposits themselves can't be withdrawn.

RillaBox

Reviewers describe withdrawals as crypto only, with a minimum of about $25 and a requirement to have deposited and wagered at least $25 first. There's no bank or card withdrawal route reported. If you don't already use crypto, factor in the hassle and fees of converting it back to dollars, and remember that crypto disposals can have tax consequences.

For US players without a crypto wallet, shipping physical prizes is the simpler route on both sites. If you'd rather have value than items, check that you're comfortable with crypto before choosing either.

Shipping to US addresses

RillaBox's shipping policy gives a delivery window of roughly 7 to 21 working days and says orders can be cancelled before processing but not after they ship. Shipping fees are charged.

Cases.gg ships to North America and EU countries, and the player pays shipping. Delivery times vary by item and supplier. Tracking is provided once an item is dispatched.

Practical points for both:

  1. Check the shipping fee before you open, not after. On a low-value item, shipping can cost more than the prize is worth. In that case selling it back for balance usually makes more sense.
  2. Use the address on your ID. A mismatch between delivery address and verified address is one of the most common causes of delays.
  3. Sizes and variants. For sneakers and clothing, check how each site handles sizes before you open. Some ship a default size, and others let you choose or swap.
  4. Expensive items take longer. High-value prizes often go through extra checks before dispatch.

Odds and house edge

Cases.gg publishes its house edge: 10% on cases, battles and the upgrader, and about 6.5% on crash. Item-level odds are shown on each case, and results use a provably fair system you can check.

RillaBox shows per-item odds on its boxes too. We haven't verified a single site-wide edge figure for RillaBox, so work it out per box: multiply each item's chance by its listed value, add them up and compare with the box price. That gives you the expected return. Remember that listed values are the operator's figures, not what you'd get selling the item on eBay or StockX.

On both sites, the most likely outcome from any box is an item worth less than the box price. Treat every opening as paying for entertainment.

Bonuses and free stuff

Cases.gg: 3 free welcome cases for new accounts, a first-purchase bonus, the free daily case after KYC, Free Play every 30 minutes for eligible players, a $3,000 weekly race, missions and the mail-in entry.

RillaBox: deposit bonuses and VIP-style rewards are advertised. Check the current promotions page, because offers change often.

For a US player who wants to try a site without spending anything, Cases.gg's free welcome cases and mail-in route are the clearer path.

Who should pick which

Cases.gg is likely the better fit if you: - live in an eligible state; - want a free way to try the site and a free entry method; - like having published edge figures and provably fair checks; - want the option to ship items or redeem.

RillaBox may suit you better if you: - live in Idaho, Montana or Michigan, where Cases.gg isn't available; - already use crypto and want a crypto-only cash-out; - prefer fewer documents for small amounts.

Neither is a good idea if you: - live in Washington; - are under 18 or below your state's age of majority; - are using money you can't afford to lose.

Responsible play

Mystery boxes are designed to be exciting, and the near-misses are part of the design. Set a budget before you start, don't chase losses, and use the deposit limits and self-exclusion tools both sites offer. If gambling stops being fun, the National Council on Problem Gambling helpline (1-800-GAMBLER) is free and confidential.

A worked example: $50 on each site

To make the differences concrete, here's how a $50 budget plays out for a player in an eligible state like Ohio. These are illustrations, not predictions.

On Cases.gg, the $50 buys a Gold Coin package that comes with bonus Cases Cash. If you used a creator or promo code, you'll see a small first-purchase boost on top. You open a few boxes in Cases Cash Mode. At a 10% edge, your expected value across many openings is about $45, but any single session can land far above or below that. Say you win a $30 pair of headphones. You can ship them to the address on your ID (paying shipping) or convert them back to Cases Cash and keep playing. If you want to redeem to crypto, you'll first need to meet the play-through rule and pass KYC.

On RillaBox, the $50 is a direct balance top-up. You open boxes with it and win, say, a $30 item. You can ship it (7–21 working days, with a fee) or sell it back for balance. To get money out, you'd withdraw in crypto once you've met the reported $25 deposit and wager requirements. If your cumulative activity passes the KYC threshold, expect a document request at that point.

The result in both cases is similar: most of the time you finish with less than $50 in value. The difference is in the route. Cases.gg makes you verify earlier but gives you a free entry route and a published edge. RillaBox asks for less up front but leaves you dealing with crypto.

Payment methods for US players

Cases.gg accepts cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay, a range of cryptocurrencies, and other methods that vary by region. Card purchases over $20 have come with a free case in recent promotions, limited to one per 24 hours. Crypto deposits go through Fireblocks and need blockchain confirmations, which can take anywhere from minutes to hours.

RillaBox accepts cards and crypto according to review sites. Check the cashier for what's available in your state, because payment processors sometimes restrict US card payments for box sites.

Whichever site you pick, use a payment method in your own name. Third-party cards and shared crypto wallets are a common reason accounts get flagged during verification.

Common questions from US players

Do I pay tax on prizes? Prizes have a value, and in the US prizes from sweepstakes and similar games can be taxable income. Cases.gg's terms say you may need to return tax forms for some prizes. Keep a record of what you win and what you paid, and ask a tax professional if your wins are significant.

Can I play while travelling? Eligibility usually depends on where you are when you play, not only where you live. Opening boxes on Cases.gg from a hotel in Michigan isn't allowed even if you live in Ohio.

What if a state changes its law? Both sites update their terms when state law changes. Montana was added to many sweepstakes exclusion lists in late 2025, for example. If your state changes, finish or redeem any balance quickly and follow the site's instructions.
